Dear All,
The All India Institute of Medical Sciences Bhopal was established as a society and later as an autonomous body under an act of Parliament as an Institution of National Eminence, with the objective to provide primary, secondary & tertiary health care, create human resource in medical and para-medical subjects and perform clinical & laboratory research to achieve translational goals. It is one of the 6 new AIIMSs being established by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare under its Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana.
This is not an easy task. The institution is being developed under the watchful eye of the people of Bhopal and Madhya Pradesh in general, who have built up very high expectations. This is a difficult situation for any administration especially for one at the inter-phase of government machinery and the public scrutiny, especially as senior medical faculty is currently, scarcely available in the country.
The ‘Glimpse’ before you is only the rosy story of activities and achievements. The flip-side of this is a longer list of unfinished work. To start a new institution and match it to current standards and functioning equivalent to established, decades old institutions, is an onerous task. One hundred and fifty acres of estate development with 24 buildings to be built, 4000 recruitments and 200 croresworth of biomedical equipment procurement have to be translated into a functioning Hospital, a Medical College, a Nursing College and much more.
The faculty and staff have put in all its efforts and the Glimpse– a saga of achievements and activities of the past 18 months is before you. We humbly leave it to your choice, to be judgmental or appreciative.
